06/02/2009 TV3 estrena un documental sobre Carles Sabater coincidint amb el desè aniversari de la seva mort
El 13 de febrer fa deu anys de la mort, als 36 anys, de Carles Sabater, cantant de Sau i una de les icones més populars del pop-rock en català dels noranta. D'entre totes les iniciatives que es realitzaran per commemorar aquesta tràgica data destaca l'estrena, el mateix dia 13, del documental Carles Sabater: memòria d'una llum, dirigit pel periodista musical Pep Blay.
El documental analitza la trajectòria artística i humana del cantant de Sau a través d’entrevistes amb 16 persones que el van conéixer d’aprop: des del seu propi company de grup, Pep Sala, fins a Joan Lluís Bozzo, Joan Oller, Àngels Gonyalons, Coco Comin, Gerard Quintana o la seva qui fou la seva companya sentimental, Laura Jou. El documental, realitzat per Francesc Fàbregas i Joan Soler, inclou material audiovisual inèdit de Carles Sabater i fotografies mai vistes de diverses èpoques de la seva vida.
'Me'n torno a Sau'
La revista Enderrock del mes de febrer dedica la seva portada al grup de Pep Sala i Carles Sabater i inclou CD de tribut Me’n torno a Sau, amb diverses versions del grup elaborades per 15 joves bandes catalanes. A més a més, el 15 de febrer Clam Sau, el club de fans de la banda, realitzarà a Llançà el tradicional homenatge que organitzen cada any coincidint per commemorar la desaparició de Carles Sabater.
Carles Sabater va morir la matinada del tretze de febrer de 1999 a causa d’una aturada cardíaca després d’un concert a Vilafranca del Penedès, el primer d’una gira tot just estrenada. Només quatre dies més tard, el seu company musical, el pianista, guitarrista i compositor Pep Sala, va anunciar la fi del grup.
