Elana Sasson Quartet is a Persian, Kurdish, & Mediterranean jazz ensemble, playing contemporary arrangements of traditional music & compositions that oscillate between east and west, modern and ancient. With jazz harmonic language and grooves inspired by Latin and Middle Eastern traditions, their contemporary arrangements honor the past with a modern consciousness that moves audiences from all origins and backgrounds. Led by the powerful, emotional voice of Elana Sasson, a Kurdish/Persian-American vocalist trained in the modal arts of Iran and Kurdistan, the Valencia-based quartet is made up of international musicians from Cyprus, Colombia, and Belgium, who each take inspiration from the folkloric traditions of their heritages.
